Meet Roger Flanders

Roger Flanders has called West Garden Grove home for nearly 60 years, ever since his parents brought him here as a baby. The son of small business owners, Roger learned the value of hard work and commitment early. He graduated from Pacifica High School and UC Irvine, and he and his wife chose to raise their own family in West Garden Grove, sending their children through the local schools just as he once did.

Roger spent 30 years as a Garden Grove Police Officer, serving as the department's founding Homeless and Mental Health Liaison, its Terrorism Liaison, and a DARE Officer. Today, he continues his career in public service as an Investigator and Pre-Trial Services Officer with the Superior Court of California, County of Orange.

Beyond his career, Roger has spent decades giving back to Garden Grove. He currently serves as a Planning Commissioner and previously served as a Traffic Commissioner and Neighborhood Improvement & Conservation Commissioner for the city. He has also coached youth baseball and soccer and served as President of the Pacifica High School Baseball Boosters.

Roger is running for Garden Grove City Council, District 1 to bring the same dedication he brought to policing and public service to City Hall, championing public safety, supporting local businesses, and protecting the neighborhoods that raised him and his family.
